This gallery presents frames from a Science on a Sphere project called “Energy Revolution”, produced by Michael Starobin of 1AU Global Media. The film premiered in December ‘09 at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. It's currently playing on spherical screens in museums and science institutions around the world.
The project utilizes ground breaking technologies developed by NOAA and NASA that enable the projection of video onto a sphere. The filmmaking process necessitates the creation of a seamless video frame, split among four projectors and “wrapped” around a spherical screen.
Ideally, any spherical film should be seen in person to realize the full three-dimensional experience. But here is a simulation of the “wrapped” screen for Energy Revolution.
